Senior Expert Studio Engineer - Interior

Design Development Interior within Design Operations is responsible for driving Interior Design in the Volvo Product Creation process that includes securing that design, engineering and project decisions reflects wanted Design appearance. The department includes Studio Engineering, Surface Design. The Senior Expert Studio Engineer reports directly to the Head of Design Development Interior.
As a Senior Expert Studio Engineer you work very closely with the Interior Designers and Surface modellers. You have tight contact with Engineers and Suppliers. You are a well-organized technical experienced person with great communication and senior leadership skills. You work primarily in the advanced and early program phases, ensuring the Interior Design input in the Platform and Pre-Program definition. You should also support the Studio Engineering team in urgent issues during the Program phase, when needed.

Main Responsibilities
As a Senior Expert Studio Engineer your main responsibilities are:
•    In close cooperation with the Interior designers, define the Interior Design need of future features and technology. 
•    Ensure that the Interior Design needs and prerequisites are included in the Platform/ Architecture development and the R&D Technology roadmap.
•    Drive innovation, new technical solutions, and challenge existing technical solutions, to realize Design intentions.
•    Ensure that the technical support to the Design studies is executed and delivered according to plan.
•    Execute own innovation and technical studies.
•    Act as a mentor to you colleagues in the innovation and technology development field.

Required Qualifications
•    BSc, or equivalent based on work experience.
•    Good ability and understanding of the Design intentions including the creative design process and how to balance this with the technical prerequisites.
•    Understand what is important for the Design maturity and the technical feasibility in the different development phases, from advanced studies to a finalized new product.
•    Ability to understand, balance and explain: 
- the Design intentions and strategies to R&D
- the R&D technical prerequisites to Design.
•    High skills and well documented knowledge in Catia V5 and Team Center. (3D)
•    Documented knowledge on design/engineering/manufacturing methods and technologies. 
•    Documented knowledge in complete car engineering.
•    Documented experience from project work in the R&D and Design interface.
•    Experience from Concept and prototype engineering, is meritorious
•    Big knowledge in car design industry by benchmarking other OEMs or industries
