Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Senior Factory Simulation Engineer to join our Skellefteå team.

The role of a Senior Factory Simulation engineer includes validating and optimizing system designs to be feasible, efficient and lean to meet production volumes. Main tool is discrete event simulation using multidisciplinary input parameters. The Senior Factory Simulation Engineer is identifying potential areas where simulation could optimize and improve the production design and deliver simulation results in time to have maximum impact.
Key responsibilities
Evaluate, validate and optimize system design projects and factory layout design by simulating concepts.
Plan and agree on simulation objectives, input parameters and time plan.
Adjusting the simulation level of detail to the objectives and time plan.
Using a standardized, modular, reusable and collaborating approach to simulation modelling.
Document and presenting simulation result with a clear focus on simulation objectives, using intuitive visualizations and a statistically strengthen simulation studies.
Evaluate production controls used in production areas.
Evaluate operating models used in production areas.
Evaluate overall production capacity in production blocks.
Support the Northvolt philosophy on a high level by capturing best practice manufacturing system configurations to meet production demands.
Developing internal way of working within Factory Simulation Engineering, pushing the frontier of modern factory/production design practices.
Develop and train other Engineering colleagues in technical software and ways of working
Identify potential areas where simulation could optimize and improve production design
Identify and proactively deliver simulation results to have maximum impact on factory and process design.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor or M.Sc. in Engineering, preferably within Production Management/Logistics or Bachelor or M.Sc. in Applied and Computational Mathematics/Data Science/Robotics, with a focus on statistics and optimization
6+ years of professional experience with material flow simulations or digital manufacturing.
Previously worked with designing material flows or within internal logistics.
Extensive experience with Siemens Plant Simulation or other Discrete Event Simulation (DES) tools.
Extensive experience in programming.
Extensive experience in data analysis.
Experience with working in an international environment.
Experience in developing Ways of Working and Guideline documents
Experience working with relevant standards that impact factory design is a plus
Experience with big data and machine learning is a plus.
Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools is a plus.
Specific skills
Proficient English writing and oral skills.
Well-developed communication skills to allow frequent contact with different data respondents and continuous alignments with stakeholders.
