Senior Formulation Engineer

We are now looking to hire a Senior Formulation Engineer (Principal Scientist or Associate Principal Scientist depending on your experience), to strengthen our team in Gothenburg, Sweden. This is an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated Senior Formulation Engineer who aims to be part of an efficient Oral Product Development team!

In Oral Product Development, a division of Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D), we focus on the design and development of commercial products and processes and contribute to new product introductions and continuous improvement of launched products. Products in scope are e.g. immediate and controlled release solid oral dosage forms of small molecules for diverse therapeutic areas. To meet the future needs of our portfolio the introduction of new technology and science is an important factor, and modeling and simulation is a part of our daily work.

What you'll do
In this role you will work closely with a team of colleagues in a multi-skilled environment to design, develop and deliver high quality clinical and commercial formulations and processes, using your understanding of existing and new innovative Product and Process technologies.

Your job accountabilities will include:

* Take responsibility for the quality, reputation, communication and delivery of science in cross-functional teams delivering drug projects.
* Contribute to regulatory documentation and submissions, applying your understanding of drug development and relevant requirements from medical authorities.
* Take part in tech transfer of manufacturing methods and give consultation to internal and external parties.
* Serve as an expert within Oral Product Development and mentor colleagues in the area of Formulation Engineering, emphasizing patient centric product design and excellence in transforming commercial manufacturing capability.
* Passionately drive the scientific knowledge synergy of product design and manufacturing technology, to implement key science, for example continuous manufacturing of drug product.
* Provide disciplinary scientific leadership, coaching and mentorship for less experienced scientists.
* Advice Senior Leadership on new science and technology within the scientific area of Product and Process Design and provide strategic direction.
* Continue to develop self as expert in scientific area of Formulation Engineering including maintaining a strong external publication and presentation record.
* Continue to develop and drive scientific excellence in the area of Formulation Engineering within the company as well as with world leading universities, scientific organizations and other industrial partners.
* Manage your own work to achieve drug development and improvement project targets, in a timely fashion and to agreed quality standards, by applying technical knowledge and expertise as well as interpreting results and adapting investigations as appropriate.

Essential for the role

* A solid scientific background. Highly likely to be an experienced PhD or an highly experienced MSc or in chemical engineering, pharmacy or similar discipline, ideally with specialism in an area relevant to pharmaceutical product and process design.
* Experience of development of commercial pharmaceutical products and manufacturing processes (including regulatory authoring) in collaboration with other scientific disciplines and manufacturing sites.
* Track record of scientific excellence and externally recognized expertise in product and process engineering with a strong and sustained publication record in this area like publications, patents, conference presentations.
* Operates confidently and collaboratively within a global organisation, with an integrating mind-set.
* Excellent English, both written and spoken.

Desirable for the role

* A broad knowledge of pharmaceutical products and process equipment and technology, including product design and methods for experimental characterization and a track record of using multi-variate analysis and chemometrics.
* Having a knowledge of operational requirements including GMP, Process Safety, Data integrity and Change Control.
* Experience in technology transfer and commercial manufacture using continuous processing including experience in providing support for regulatory submissions.
