We are looking for a passionate HPC Specialist that can lead the operation and development of High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure in Autonomous Drive. You will join the Volvo Cars Electrical and Software Engineering team within Product Creation Products of Enterprise Digital at Volvo Cars. Join the Engineering Chapter at Consumer & Enterprise Digital to become a part of our exciting journey towards a product-oriented software company. You will be part of the journey as we deliver on our company’s vision and scale our users globally, but of course also pick up other tasks helping the product team(s) move forward, broadening your t-shaped profile. What you’ll do?
As a Senior HPC Specialist in our team, you will work with the cutting edge of High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure in Autonomous Drive R&D. You will ensure the smooth daily operations of our HPC environments and help support our users in the business to ensure that Volvo Cars gets the most value and performance out of the solution as possible.
Our team is managing several existing HPC clusters globally and we are now in the implementation phase for an additional major High Throughput Cluster (HTC) with over 100PiB storage and CPU/GPU nodes.
You will act as one of our HPC Subject Matter Experts (SME) and help users understand the capability of the HPC/HTC solutions including Linux, configuration management, schedulers, hardware, applications, etc.
You will work closely with Autonomous Drive & Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (AD and ADAS) developers and engineers, supporting in optimizing code and strategies to run in HPC, recommend ways of working, arrange workshops and training sessions, capture requirements, identify solutions, setting up proof of concepts, help manage workloads and other related tasks. You will also be involved in the continuous improvement and extension of the Storage and Compute (S&C) solutions as well as in the ongoing operations together with our S&C suppliers. You will be given a high degree of trust and be empowered to solve issues to ensure that the business receives the HPC services that they need.
Do you fit the profile?
Preferably, you have a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or experience matching requirement below. You are experienced with agile development practices and have worked in product teams that use collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence or similar. You are fluent in English, both verbally and written at a professional level.
We are looking for you who have 10+ years of relevant Linux experience and at least 5 years of experience of HPC administration in an enterprise environment including administration of networks, servers, storage, clients, etc. You also have experience with storage concepts such as scale-out NAS (NFS), SMB, parallel filesystems, Lustre, POSIX, and object storage. You have knowledge about parallel computing (HPC/HTC), performance troubleshooting & optimization and operating environments at large scale.
To be successful in this position you are a Linux native and fluent in Python and/or other scripting languages. You have experience from working with tools like Slurm/PBS/LSF or similar, Docker/Singularity as well as Terraform/Ansible or other infrastructure automation languages.
