Connected car is one of the main focus areas at Volvo Cars and aims to deliver the next generation of connected vehicles and services. Volvo Cars Connected Car IT contains the concept, development, and maintenance departments who are charged with the creation, industrialization, and operating of new services as well as the maintenance of existing connected services. There is a high level of complexity including coordination with other IT services and business functions such as Research & Development. It also contains the uniqueness of Volvo Cars Product Development delivery where IT is part of the solution.

We are now looking for a Senior Architect to strengthen our team and focus on concept such as early development phases of car programs and advanced engineering. This is an innovative area within Volvo Cars presenting many interesting opportunities and challenges for our connected services. The resource we are looking for will work within the Connected Car IT concept team. A strong, driven, highly communicative and experienced person is required. The candidate should have a broad competence ranging from hands-on development (of PoCs etc) to architectural modelling and conceptualization to supplier communication. We are looking for someone who is delivery focused and pro-active.

Main responsibilities

* Be the spokesperson from Connected Car IT for vehicle programs in concept phase
* Take part in and define Advanced Engineering projects, in particular Autonomous Drive
* Define and design solutions in concept phase and advanced engineering that aligns with strategy
* Focus towards early vehicle concept phases and advanced engineering initially focusing on Autonomous Drive

Required qualifications

* Master´s degree within engineering, IT or similar
* More than 5 years of experience as solution architect, business architect, enterprise architect, information architect, integration architect or similar role within automotive
* Excellent knowledge of mobile (car and telecom) solutions and understanding the aspects of infrastructure, applications and data management
* Good analytical and contextualization skills in the area of architecture with ability to see the big picture while defining the individual elements
* Extensive knowledge in system integration, networks, web and cloud technology
* Real time system architecture and development
* Geospatial data storage
* Embedded systems and constrained computing
* Fluent in English, written and spoken

* Excellent communication skills; the ability to convey ideas in written form and the capability to share those ideas verbally in a clear, concise manner to both technical specialists and people without technical knowledge
* Good collaboration skills; comfortable working with and leading other skilled professionals in project teams towards common goals
* Flexible and adaptable: the ability to accept, promote and drive change and implementation and lead way in the organization for new perspectives
* Self-directed and organized: has a structured and analytical way of taking on tasks and performing on a daily basis in a result oriented way
