The British International School of Stockholm is recruiting a Senior IT Technician to provide technical helpdesk support for both staff and students.
As the senior technician in the IT Services team, you will take the lead role in providing ongoing maintenance for the school network, systems, infrastructure and hardware. Reporting to the Director for IT and Digital Learning, you will help provide the technical support necessary to enable the school to achieve its vision of excellence in digital learning.
This role will include:
Ensure the smooth running of the school network
Make recommendations to the Director of IT to strategically manage the development and maintenance of an efficient ICT infrastructure and technical services
Lead teh commission and configuration of ICT systems, networks and equipment; including hardware, peripherals and software as agreed with the Director of IT
Maintain the school's security systems incl CCTV and door security
Maintain cloud environments including day-to-day technical support
Lead the installation, test and configure new IT hardware, systems and peripherals as directed by the Director of IT
Monitor the performance of school systems and hardware, diagnosing and resolving problems
Perform maintenance, repairs and upgrades, liaising with suppliers, agencies and partners
Ensure data is backed-up daily in Google Cloud Platform
Ensure virus/malware protection is effective and kept up-to-date and the school's firewall is maintained
Maintain appropriate documentation, incl inventories and network diagrams for school hardware, software, systems and passwords - following school policy for audit requirements
Advise on hardware and systems requirements and specifications
Maintain network security software such as web filtering, group policy management, file sharing etc
Maintain backup scripts from GCP and SQL server to Linux NAS systems
Provide in-house training, as appropriate
To perform such other tasks as may reasonably be required by the Director of IT and the Senior Leadership Team

Requirements
Awareness of the priorities working in a school and a commitment to enhancing the learning environment
A willingness to work flexibly, sometimes outside of normal core hours
An interest in the wider technical world and current issues
Experience of working as a senior member of an IT team
The skills needed to support school systems locally and those on Google Cloud
Good problem-solving skills and an interest in IT innovation
A solutions minded approach with an ability to use your initiative and be innovative
The ability to develop good relationships and communicate effectively
Knowledge of a range of applications used in schools or a willingness to learn
Knowledge of experience of G:suite and Google admin or a willingness to learn
The experience and skills necessary to maintain a school network across two sites
Experience of client/server-based networks with DHCP, DNS, subnets, VPN/VLAN/VMware, TCP/IP, firewalls and switches
