The Department of Dental Medicine at Campus Flemingsberg focuses on the education of dentists and dental hygienists.
In addition, we perform research, dental specialization training and provide patient care by specialist dentists. Karolinska Institutet and the rest of Scandinavia have been world leaders in dentistry for decades.
A senior lab manager position is available in the research group of Dr. Boström at the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Oral Diagnostics and Rehabilitation. The research group focuses on oral manifestations and the elucidation of mechanisms underlying inflammatory bowel disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, and periodontal diseases. This is a one-year position with the possibility of an extension.
Your mission
The laboratory work will include processing of biological material from human tissue, immune cells, gene expression, protein expression analysis, analysis of complex biological fluids such as saliva. The position also includes experimental planning, data processing, statistical analysis, as well as manuscript writing.
Your profile
To qualify for the position, you should have a dental degree and should have obtained a doctorate. You should also have worked as a postdoc for several years or have equivalent scientific competence.
Entry requirements
The position is open for a highly motivated, enthusiastic candidate. We are looking for a dentist with a PhD and with adequate experience in clinical and molecular research.
The position requires:
- A dental degree
- Documented research background investigating the link between oral and systemic diseases as well as the involvement of myeloid cells in periodontal disease
- Skills to work independently with multicolor flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, PCR, ELISA, western blot, multiplex protein platforms, and to handle oral mucosal tissue, PBMCs, monocytes, and oral cells
- Solid statistical knowledge and skills to work independently with SPSS, STATA, GraphPadPrism and experience from dental academic research working with large clinical data bases.
Advantegous:
- Ability to handle and analyze complex biological fluids such as saliva
- Research experience working with rheumatic diseases, cardiovascular disease, and inflammatory bowel disease
- Supervisory experience
- Ability to work independently with MS Office
To perform in this position, you will need to have very good oral and written communication skills in English as well as excellent teamwork skills as you will often closely work together with other members of the research group.
