Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.

We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
Our Challenge
One of the most important things is sustainability and vehicle safety - no one can argue with that. Wouldn’t it be both exciting and challenging to be part of a team working with battery containment ensuring that we keep the lead in vehicle safety? If you are passionate about our customers’ safety, you will realize that the role as Senior Lead Engineer for adhesives within Battery Enclosure Systems is the place for you to prosper! Here you play a key role, governing the adhesives that will be one of the integral joining techniques in the next generation battery packs, which forms a central part of the overall stiffness contribution to the battery and complete car.
To put it bluntly; ensuring that our next generation battery packs have state-of-the-art integrated adhesive solutions that support us to be leading within safety and electrification are some of the challenges you will conquer! But don’t worry, you will have great support around you, and as one of our teammates says; never thought it could be so exciting to work with adhesive!
The Team
We are an international team that manages parts and systems such as battery tray, battery lid, brackets, gaskets, thermal protective structures and deal with multiple joining techniques. We have the joy of doing all detail design work ourselves, it is 100% Built to Print parts and we create all technical documents enabling our supplier base to manufacture our parts.
We will challenge you and expect you to do the same to bring out the best from each one of us. At the same time, we will offer you a comfortable lifestyle, Work-life Balance is also something that infuses Volvo Cars. What does it mean to you? Maybe it is to have a home-baked “fredagsfika” or the benefit of our family bond*, anyhow we will not make you disappointed in this area!
Your Contribution
You will govern the adhesive system-level design, provide technical guidance to the team and drive state-of-the-art projects. You will have the opportunity to have hands-on tasks such as establish and execute on development plans, fabricate prototypes for tests, participate in lab tests and real environment tests. For this, you have full support from your team colleagues and support teams for detailed design & CAE work. Keeping track of time plans, deliveries, reporting system, issue management as well as keeping a good dialogue with suppliers, manufacturing, purchase, etc. in a cross-functional environment is a day-to-day part of the job.
You will be the one interacting with our suppliers to discuss the technical solution and related issues to manufacturing and assembly. In the same way, you will be deeply involved in dialogue with our different plants and manufacturing engineering. In this role, there will be a need for some traveling, to visit our different suppliers and vehicle plants to have a good dialogue around your parts and systems.
Competence and Experience are Important
We see that you have at least a Bachelor of Science or equivalent based on work experience, in addition, you will need a couple of years of experience working with adhesives and product development.
Personality and Potential are Key
You enjoy creating new solutions, fix tricky problems, and are able to think outside the box. You simply love to take on a good technical challenge together with your team and gladly share your knowledge.
Due to that you will spend many hours in discussions with different stakeholders, you will also need good communication skills and to enjoy being in contact with a lot of people. With that said, there’s a lot to keep track of, which will be easy for you since you’re structured, organized and good with priorities.
