MacGregor: Shape your journey onboard and offshore with us
MacGregor is a world class supplier of equipment for load handling, mooring and loading/offloading solutions. As we are now facing an increasing interest for our simulation product portfolio, we are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join the Macgregor Simulation Team C-How. The purpose of the position is to develop and apply simulation tools for new and existing markets and enhance MacGregor's digital solution portfolio. This role contributes to MacGregor’s digital strategy and capitalizes on our current and future customer installed base. Senior Software Developer creates, hands-on programming and implements new functionality to be used in simulation projects, driven by our roadmap and (internal/external) customer requests.
Currently, the Macgregor Simulation Team C-How can use two different simulation environments: Unity and C-How, of which the last one is in-house developed and based on Java code. The team is located in Kristiansand and Averøy, Norway.
This position reports to VP, Digitalisation and Business Transformation. The location of this position can be Kristiansand, Averøy, Bodø in Norway; Helsinki, Tampere in Finland and Gothenburg in Sweden.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Produce software designs, formulate program specifications and basic prototypes
Transform software designs and specifications into high functioning code in the appropriate language. Integrate individual software solutions to higher level systems
Run and/or automate tests of the software code periodically, to ensure it produces the desirable results and perform debugging when necessary
Perform upgrades to make software and systems more secure and efficient
Take ownership of new and existing features of engines like Unity and C-how, content editor and tools.
Give input to develop, demonstrate, advise and train customers to utilize digital twin applications in an efficient way through professional training material and documentation as required
End-responsibility of all technical documentation and internal training material
Take part in various projects, coordinate and monitor personnel.
What you’ll need to succeed:
Education:
Master/Bachelor degree in Science, preferably informatics/ IT/robotics or relevant software specialization
Relevant experience can compensate for lack of formal education
Experience:
5 - 10 years experiences in software development, or software engineering or related roles
5+ years experiences with simulation software
Experience with (maritime) industry, customers and Industrial Equipment / Systems will be considered as an advantage
Competence:
Strong programming skills in any of the following programming languages: Java, C/ C++ and C#, knowledge of HTML, FXML(SceneBuilder) and SQL
Experienced in simulation tools
Technical attitude with ability to communicate and present effectively (in English) with technical resources and other stakeholders
Strong project management skills
Self-driven, flexible and open minded.
