Senior lecturer in Computer Graphics and Visualization

in the Department of Science and Technology (ITN)

Background: The human mind has an uprecedented ability to analyze data by finding patterns and structure in visual information. Through real time interaction with images and image sequences this ability is further strengthened. Computer graphics is rapidly becoming and better and high quality graphics is thus becoming generally available. We are currently just at the beginning of a wide spread use of visualization that will have a significant impact across many application areas.

At the Department of Science and Technologhy (ITN) and the division for Visual Information Technology and Applications (VITA) there are research groups in scientific visualization, information- and geovisualization, computer graphics and virtual reality, and interactive systems engineering. VITA also hosts the Norrköping Visualization and Interaction Studio (NVIS), which is a center with state of the art equipment and with a mission to conduct research, education and public outreach.

VITA and NVIS hereby announces a senior lectureship in computer grahics and visualization. The position will strengthen the educational efforts within the media technology engineering programme, in which visualization is a strategic component, as well as the international masters programme in computer graphics and visualization hosted by VITA.

Duties: The position as senior lecturer involves teaching, research and administration. It is also the senior lecturer's responsibility to follow developments in his/her own area and developments in society that may be significant for the position.

The successful candidate shoud have experience of lecturing and tutoring at the undergraduate level. Teaching at the graduate level and supervision of graduate students in selected areas of expertise are also important parts of the position. The successful applicant will be joining a dynamic team of professors, lecturers and graduate studets who share the vision of providing the best possible eductation in one of Europe s leading environments for computer graphics and visualization.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the specified area for the position, as well as training in university pedagogics and demonstrated teaching experience.
