Description of subject area:
Interaction design is concerned with the design of human interaction, with or through computer based artefacts. Of particular importance within the subject area is the use and expression of artefacts, the interplay between events and contexts, and the use of diverse design expressions. The research area is multidisciplinary and combines elements from areas such as computer science and echnology, cognitive science, aesthetics, informatics and social science. Research within the area spans from theory to methodology and includes issues such as design expressions and methods, use and quality, acquisition competence, organization and management, and also critical and experimental design of interactivity. The research area has expanded from traditional system- and media-oriented approaches to encompass service and product perspectives. The research group at Human-Centered Systems manages and participates in prominent projects focusing design expressions in interaction and service design, acquisition of usable IT-systems, design management and design in user-driven innovation.

Senior lecturer
at the Department of Computer and Information Science, Human Centered-Systems division.
Duties: The position involves teaching, research and administration. It is also the senior lecturer's responsibility to follow developments in his/her own area and developments in society that may be significant for the position. The position includes undergraduate teaching, especially within interaction design. The applicant is supposed to have experience in both applied and basic research.
The applicant is supposed to define, apply for external funding and lead various research projects within the area. The position includes responsibility for courses directed at master of science and engineering students within IT, media technology, industrial economy, cognitive science, informatic education and graphic design and communication. Assignment as director of studies may be within the duties.
Qualifications: For this position a PhD or equivalent is required, as well as teaching skills. Proficiency in English, both speaking and writing, is necessary. The applicants PhD has to be in a relevant subject, such as computer science, cognitive science, interactions design or human-computer interaction. Teaching duties assume knowledge of learning design oriented synthesis in constructive acting and critical reflection.
Experience in undergraduate as well as graduate teaching in the areas of interaction design and human-computer interaction, and evidence of personal development in teaching is an advantage.
The applicant should document research conducted within one or more areas of importance for the position. It is an advantage to have experience in applied as well as basic research.
