Arbetsbeskrivning
Welcome to Linnaeus University! A place for knowledge, ideas and development. For growth potential and a belief in the future. In Småland and in the world.
The Department of Building Technology works together with neighbouring departments – Forestry and Wood Technology, Built Environment and Energy Technology and Mechanical Engineering – to create a research environment that includes topics related to structural design and material science. This research environment is based at the Faculty of Technology. The environment has a total of around 60 employees, including 12 professors, and is expanding significantly.
The University is planning to develop and offer a new MSc programme in Structural Engineering. This means that research across the field of Structural Engineering will be extended and that new research-based courses will be developed within subjects such as mechanics, material science, advanced structural design (wood, concrete and steel), structural dynamics, energy technology, building acoustics, finite element modelling and 3D visualization. This challenge requires the recruitment of new staff. The position being advertised is an important part of this plan.
Linnaeus University’s Department of Building Technology seeks applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer in Building Technology with a specialization in structural engineering. Relevant fields of interest range from material properties and development to structural analysis and design of load bearing elements and structures as well as conceptual design. In-depth knowledge of simulation by numerical analysis and qualified experimental experience would also be an advantage.
Research carried out by the holder of the position should complement the research environment, which now includes structural engineering and mechanics of materials with a focus on timber material. Research often relies on laboratory experiments, for which advanced equipment is available, in combination with numerical analysis such as finite element modelling. It is aimed at products, methods and solutions that can be used by producers and engineers in industry. Job description
The work consists of teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels as well as carrying out and participating in research projects and administrative tasks. You will be expected to play an active role in the scientific and pedagogical work and to explore your subject further in a scientific manner. Examples of focus areas that fit the profile include issues relating to infrastructure projects, the planning and design of infrastructure projects (bridges, airports, highways, etc.) and geotechnical engineering.
The aim is that you should strengthen the research within the field and cooperate with other faculty members with a similar scientific background. Work aimed at further developing the collaboration between universities, industry and the wider community will be a natural part of the tasks. The position may also include administrative tasks at the department.
