Senior lecturer in Building technology

Arbetsbeskrivning

Welcome to Linnaeus University! A place for knowledge, ideas and development. For growth potential and a belief in the future. In Småland and in the world.

The Department of Building Technology works together with neighbouring departments – Forestry and Wood Technology, Built Environment and Energy Technology and Mechanical Engineering – to create a research environment that includes topics related to structural design and material science. This research environment is based at the Faculty of Technology. The environment has a total of around 60 employees, including 12 professors, and is expanding significantly.

The University is planning to develop and offer a new MSc programme in Structural Engineering. This means that research across the field of Structural Engineering will be extended and that new research-based courses will be developed within subjects such as mechanics, material science, advanced structural design (wood, concrete and steel), structural dynamics, energy technology, building acoustics, finite element modelling and 3D visualization. This challenge requires the recruitment of new staff. The position being advertised is an important part of this plan.

Linnaeus University’s Department of Building Technology seeks applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer in Building Technology with a specialization in construction engineering. Relevant fields of interest range from the design and planning of infrastructure such as highways, bridges and airports to foundations and geotechnical engineering. In-depth knowledge of numerical analysis and experimental experience would also be an advantage. Research carried out by the holder of the position should complement the research environment, which now includes structural engineering and mechanics of materials with a focus on timber material. Research often relies on laboratory experiments, for which advanced equipment is available, in combination with numerical analysis such as finite element modelling. It is aimed at products, methods and solutions that can be used by producers and engineers in industry.

We are looking for a Senior lecturer in Building technology with specialization in construction engineering

Placement city: Växjö, Sweden, 100% permanent position

Job description

Examples of focus areas that fit the profile include issues relating to infrastructure projects, the planning and design of infrastructure projects (bridges, airports, highways, etc.) and geotechnical engineering.

The aim is that you should strengthen the research within the field and cooperate with other faculty members with a similar scientific background.
