The lnstitute of Health and Care Sciences is at the forefront both nationally and internationally concerning person-centred care. Person-centred care is present in education, research as well as innovation. The lnstitute is organised according to academic areas made up by interdisciplinary profiles: Care in long-term conditions; The Life Context and Health Promotion; Diagnostics, Acute and Critical Care and Learning and Leadership for Health Care Professionals. The purpose of having academic areas is to integrate the lnstitute's joint competence in order to promote quality in education, research and collaboration.
The lnstitute of Health and Care Sciences offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for nurses, radiographers, midwives and specialist nurses. The basic training courses for nurses and radiographers lead to a professional degree as well as a bachelor's degree. The training of midwives and the different courses for specialist nurses lead to a professional registration in combination with a master's degree. All professional programmes lead to a professional registration, Moreover, the freestanding courses are offered at an advanced level, offering the possibility to continue studying towards a master's degree in one of the lnstitute's main subjects; nursing, reproductive and perinatal health, radiography and health care pedagogics. The lnstitute also offers the possibility to study for a PhD degree in Health Care Sciences.

In the field of Caring Sciences, the knowledge about health and having a good life despite the presence of disease or disability is developed along with the knowledge about a dignified and peaceful passing. In Caring Sciences, it is not illness or disability perse that is the focus, but rather people's experiences, interpretations andreactions to illness. Central to the field of Caring Sciences, is a close relation between the nurse, patient and relative/friend.
Job assignments
The position is based in the section for The Life Context and Health Promotion. You will be teaching mainly within the specialist nurse programme with a specialisation in district nursing but also within other education programmes offered at the lnstitute.
The activities include planning and tuition, coordinating resources, working on continuity across the courses, keeping oneself updated with current development within the subject fields as well as being responsible for courses. The mission as a course coordinator includes developing and coordinating learning objectives, activities, forms of examination and assessment criteria in relation to content, purpose and current pedagogical research. It also includes quality assuring the education with validated assessment methods. Further, the position includes supervising and examining degree projects on a first cycle level and also postgraduate degree projects. Administrative duties related to the educational activities will also be included.
In addition, we expect the candidate to actively work on subject development of the main field, initiate and participate in applications for externa! research funding as well as running research projects within the field.
The employment includes actively working to achieve the department's objectives and business plan, which is actively contributing to the development of the academic environment within the section's Complete Academic Environment (KAM). It is expected of all employees to participate in joint meetings and activities organised by the lnstitute.
The applicant must be able to teach in Swedish and when needed in English.
Other activities may be included and the content of the employment may change over time.
It may be possible to combine the employment as a senior lecturer with an employment in primary or communal care. The clinical service may vary in content and is determined in agreement with the public health authority.
Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance as well as in the University of Gothenburg's own appointment system.
To be appointed a senior lecturer, the applicant must have a PhD degree in Caring Sciences, be a registered nurse and have a Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Nursing with a specialisation in District Nursing or Elderly Care.
