Senior lecturer in computer science

Duties: The position involves teaching, research and administration. It is also the senior lecturer's responsibility to follow developments in his/her own area and developments in society that may be significant for the position. The position includes undergraduate teaching, especially within interaction design. The applicant is supposed to have experience in both applied and basic research. The applicant is supposed to define, apply for external funding and lead various research projects within the area. The position includes responsibility for courses directed at master of science and engineering students within IT, media technology, industrial economy, cognitive science, informatic education and graphic design and communication. Assignment as director of studies may be within the duties.

Qualifications: For this position a PhD or equivalent is required, as well as teaching skills. Proficiency in English, both speaking and writing, is necessary. The applicants PhD has to be in a relevant subject, such as computer science, cognitive science, interactions design or human-computer interaction. Teaching duties assume knowledge of learning design oriented synthesis in constructive acting and critical reflection. Experience in undergraduate as well as graduate teaching in the areas of interaction design and human-computer interaction, and evidence of personal development in teaching is an advantage. The applicant should document research conducted within one or more areas of importance for the position. It is an advantage to have experience in applied as well as basic research.

Grounds for assesment: Grounds for assessment when appointing personnel include the degree of ability that is required as a qualification for the appointment. In addition they also include the level of administrative and other skills relevant to the subject area as determined by the University for the position and the duties included in the position. Further, ability in management of activities and personnel at the university also applies, as does the ability to work in cooperation with the societal enviromnent and in informing about research and development. For these positions equal emphasis will be given to teaching and scientific ability. Teaching skills must be demonstrated by broadbased and in-depth ability in the area of the position. Teaching skills should also be demonstrated by the ability to spread enthusiasm and interest in the area, to structure and organize a body of knowledge in educational courses, to activate students in the learning process, to communicate with students and other teachers as well as having a holistic view and the ability to renew. Scientific skills must be demonstrated through the applicant's own research and through planning and management of research. Scientific skills can additionally be demonstrated by the ability to achieve research results in cooperation with other researchers and through the ability to inform about research.

Administrative skills must be demonstrated through experience of developing and managing activities and personnel and the ability to cooperate. Successful applicants who do not already speak Swedish are expected to participate in Swedish classes and within 3 years reach grade three of the Folkuniversitet classification.

A majority of lecturers within the department are men, which is why precedence will be given to women in cases where qualifications are deemed otherwise equivalent.
