The School of Business and Economics hosts the economics discipline at Linnaeus University. The subject of economics provides study programmes and courses at first- and second-cycle level and at the doctoral level. First-cycle education is mainly provided in the Faculty’s regular study programmes, such as the economics programme, the business and economics programme, the marketing programme and bachelor’s and master's programmes in economics.
Linnaeus University has a long tradition of labour market research. Part of this research is conducted at the Linnaeus Knowledge Platform Demographic Change and the Public Sector, which works at the intersection of demographical, labour and public economics.
Subject area the position: Economics.
Placement location: Växjö. Most work in the position will be performed at the placement location, but some duties may also be performed at the Campus in Kalmar.
Scope of the appointment: 50-100%. Temporary employment for one year, starts 2021-01-01
Job description
The appointment involves planning, teaching and examination at first- and second-cycle level and doctoral level in study programmes and freestanding courses in economics. Teaching is in Swedish and English, both on campus and via our online study centre. Teaching also includes course development, course responsibility and supervision of students. Applicants should be able to speak Swedish to fully carry out the duties associated with the position. Research and active participation in the further development of the research environment is a requirement for the appointment. The job description includes collaboration with other teachers/researchers and interaction with society, at both national and international level, as well as active participation in the department’s internal and external work. Cooperation skills and flexibility are of great importance – both in relation to student groups and within work teams and research environments.
Required qualifications
An applicant is qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer if they have demonstrated educational expertise and also hold a doctorate or possess corresponding scientific expertise with respect to the subject content of the appointment and the work duties included in the appointment.
Under Linnaeus University’s appointment regulations educational expertise applies both to the planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching and to supervision and examination.
To be qualified for this position, applicants must also have:
• documented excellent ability to communicate in both written and spoken English and Swedish.
• documented excellent cooperation skills.
• documented scientific work in the field of empirical labour economics
• documented ability to teach micro and macroeconomics, as well as migration and labour economics
• documented experience with Stata tutorials
