Senior lecturer in Information Design

Duties: The position of senior lecturer involves teaching, research and administration. It is also the senior lecturer's responsibility to follow developments in his/her own area and developments in society that may be significant for the position. This position involves teaching and development of courses with emphasis on the <A HREF="http://dm.itn.liu.se/undergraduate/gdc"> Graphic Design and Communication study programme.</A> The holder of the position is expected to do research in the information design area with special emphasis on visual communication and graphic information systems.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the specified area for the position, as well as training in university pedagogics and demonstrated teaching experience.


Grounds for assesment: Grounds for assessment and ranking of applicants include the degree of qualification for the position, the inferred ability of applicants to fulfill the duties of the position, the extent of administrative experience and the ability to manage activities and personnel. Furthermore, assessment will be based on applicants' ability to work as part of a team, ability to inform about research and development, and other skills deemed by Linköping University as relevant to the position. For this position equal emphasis will be placed on teaching and scientific proficiency. Teaching proficiency must be based on a demonstrable, broad-based and in-depth competence in the area of the position. Teaching proficiency can be demonstrated by the ability to inspire enthusiasm and interest in the area, to structure and organize a body of knowledge in educational courses, to activate students in the learning process, and to communicate with students and other teachers. Proficiency also requires possession of a holistic view of the field and the ability to renew. Scientific proficiency must be demonstrated through the applicant's own research achievements and through the planning and management of research. Scientific proficiency can additionally be demonstrated by the ability to achieve research results in cooperation with other researchers and through the ability to inform about research. Administrative proficiency can be demonstrated by documented experience with the development and management of activities, the leadership and management of staff and the ability to work and cooperate effectively with and through a group structure. Certified experience of graphic design and communication in theory and practice is a merit.
