Education and research at the Division of Landscape Architecture covers the whole field of landscape architecture i.e. planning, management and landscape design. The subject area landscape management is a relatively new subject at the department and within this subject, we work  works progressively to become leaders in research, teaching and practice regarding sustainable landscape management.

Subject area

The subject area for the position is landscape architecture with a specialisation in sustainable landscape management, especially urban outdoor management, based on knowledge about plant design and the continuity of the landscape, to contribute to people’s recreation and well-being, increased biodiversity, adaptation to climate change and other ecosystem services as well as nature-based solutions.

Duties
The senior lecturer will within the subject area for the position:


• Develop, perform and strengthen education and the research field within the subject area of the position
• participate in interdisciplinary development projects within the division, the department and SLU

and with similar subject areas within SLU and with other universities nationally and internationally


• contribute to the faculty's strategic development
• publish scientific articles, apply for external funding and supervise students and PhDs

The position as senior lecturer includes education and research in collaboration. The employment includes administrative assignments for education. You will be part of a cohesive subject group that grows, is solution-oriented and has extensive experience from teaching and practice. The group works with respect and curiosity as core values.

Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as senior lecturer in landscape architecture with a specialization in sustainable landscape management you must:


• have obtained the degree of PhD in landscape architecture or in a corresponding environmental design discipline
• have demonstrated pedagogical skills in teaching at undergraduate and master's levels, including supervision of students
• have undergone a university based pedagogical education or in other ways obtained corresponding
• knowledge which should be equivalent to ten weeks of full-time studies
• be scientifically proficient in the subject area of the position and have shown capacity to obtain external funding
• have published in journals relevant to the subject area of the position
• have good knowledge in English and within 4 years from starting the position have obtained a proficiency in Swedish to be able to teach.

Assessment criteria
Assessment shall be based on the degree to which a candidate possesses the required qualifications specified for the position. Furthermore, consideration shall be paid to the degree in which a candidate possesses administrative and other skills of importance with regard to the content and duties of the appointment. Assessment of the pedagogic skills will be given particular consideration.

The assessment of pedagogic skills will consider:


• experience of teaching, including planning and evaluation, in the subject area of the position
• supervision of students and examination
• ability to integrate research and a scientific approach into teaching

Experience of modern teaching methodologies, such as digital teaching methods and e-based learning is an advantage

The assessment of scientific skills will consider:


• the applicant's ability to develop research in the subject area of the position, for example the ability to obtain external research grants and publish in scientific journals, books or professional journals

The overall assessment will also consider:


• a strong collaborative network of value to the department's research and teaching
• good communication and collaboration ability
