The Department of Social Work is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Gothenburg. In an expansive and dynamic education and research environment, and with great citizenship, we give the social work education programme as well as comprehensive masters programmes, the Programme for Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and postgraduate education. The department has extensive international contacts and cooperations through various networks and agreements with universities around the world. The department conducts research in social work in the context of several profiles. An important area of social work is social services for children. Therefore, the Department of Social Work seeks one or more Senior Lecturers with emphasis on children, the young and family.

Specific subject description
Social Work contains studies of socially vulnerable people's lives and experiences. The cause and consequences of social problems, as they can be understood at individual, group and society level are emphasized in the studies. It is also important to study how various interventions are designed to prevent and remedy social problems. Social work is the main subject at first, second and third cycle.

Job assignments
The tasks include teaching, research and interaction with the surrounding society. The proportion of teaching and research is regulated by the local service policy. It also includes active participation in the activities of the department. Administrative tasks within the department and management tasks may occur.

The job assignments mainly consist of teaching, tutoring and examination in the first and second cycle within the social work education programme, the master's programmes, freestanding courses, and contract education. The duties also include course responsibility, including course administration, collaboration both within and between courses and participating in the development of the department and research in social work.

Eligibility
Qualified applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer must have passed a doctorate in social work or other relevant subject to the announcement and have proven pedagogical skills. The applicant must also have completed higher pedagogical education of 15 higher education credits or equivalent, alternatively, complete it within one year of employment.

The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

Assessment
In assessing the qualifications attention will be given to scientific and pedagogical skills equally.

For the assessment of scientific skill, special emphasis will be placed on documented skills demonstrated primarily through publications of high scientific quality. Research within the field of Theories and Methods in Social Work is an asset. Furthermore, proven experience of participating in/acquisition of external funded research projects, as well as experience in work with interaction with the surrounding society is considered to be an advantage.

In evaluating the pedagogical skills, special attention will be given to proven experience of managing and planning education. Proven supervision of students at first, second and third cycle is significant. Candidates are expected to be able to teach fluently in Swedish and are also expected to teach in English.

Two years documented experience of professional social work is a requirement. Applicants with a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Social Work, University Diploma in Social Care or University Diploma in Social Pedagogy will be ranked ahead of other applicants with comparable qualifications. With regard to the focus of the position, experience of social work with children, the young, and families is especially valuable. To have participated in the university's third mission (interaction with the surrounding society) in different ways is also considered an asset.

General suitability with respect to the advertised post will be required. Special attention is paid to personal qualities required to be able to work with people, internally and externally as well as work on the development of the department of social work education, project and research activities.

Not more than 10 scientific papers and a maximum of 10 teaching media can be invoked.Regarding the papers invoked, these can be submitted within three weeks of filing period.
