The Department of Textile Technology at the Swedish School of Textiles is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Textile Technology who wishes to be involved in shaping the educational programmes of the future. We already have several educational programmes at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. During the past year, we have also developed programmes focusing on textile innovation and product development, also at different levels. Within the research environment, there are also projects with the same focus.
The Department of Textile Technology is now seeking a Senior Lecturer in Textile Technology.
Job description
You will have the opportunity to work with teaching, course development, course coordination, and examination at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. This is mainly done in freestanding courses and the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in textile technology, but can also take place in related subject areas and doctoral education. The teaching takes place in the areas of innovation strategy, processes, and methods as well as product development, all with links to textiles. You will teach everything from theory to practice and supervise students in courses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. You will also teach basic knowledge of digital tools so that students can communicate ideas and product-specific details. Many courses contain practical elements of product development that take place in interaction with our teaching techniques within the textile labs, where you as the course coordinator lead and distribute tasks.
Based on your own interests and proficiencies, continued academic career advancement in both education and research is possible.
Qualifications
The position requires a doctoral degree in, for example, industrial design, textile technology, textile design, textile management or something else relevant to the position as assessed by the university. You must also have demonstrated pedagogical expertise. In addition, it is expected that you have professional experience from business and/or industry in textile innovation and product development and that you are familiar with digital visualisation techniques.
To fit the role, you have a good ability to communicate in English in speech and writing. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills, good computer skills, as well as administrative skills and a good ability to work independently and take responsibility for your own courses and projects from start to finish.
Merits for this position are:
• Theoretical and practical professional knowledge in any of the textile techniques: knitting, weaving, dyeing and finishing, sewing
• Good reading comprehension in Swedish.
• Experience in course and software development at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels
• Knowledge of digital 3D visualisation techniques
• Good knowledge of sustainable development
• Contacts in the business and industry and experience of collaboration with the surrounding community
For a permanent position at the university, you must have completed training in higher education pedagogy equivalent to 10 weeks of full-time studies or have equivalent knowledge.
