Description of employment

The successful applicant is expected to participate in research, teaching, supervision of students, course development and examination within the field of Optometry, at the Optometry program. Clinical training of our students takes place in our own examination rooms and during external internships.

Administrative tasks such as course management will gradually be expected of the applicant. Research can be funded by application to internal and external sources, and as a senior lecturer/associate professor the applicant is expected to participate in the development of Optometry related research. Also, as a teacher at the Linnaeus University, it is important to follow the development within the field as well as changes in the society related to the role as a university teacher.

Requirements
Mandatory qualifications
- Doctorate in the field optometry or other closely related area.
- Documented experience in research and development within the field of optometry.
- Documented teaching skills.
- Well documented experience as a teacher in Optometry.
- Documented teaching experience in any of the Scandinavian languages or English.


Other qualifications of interest (in order of importance)
1. Experience of teaching at an Optometry program, supervision of students and examination tasks within the field of Optometry.
2. Previous extramural research grants. Show potential for obtaining own research funds (eg through obtained evaluation of research grant applications).
3. Experience of course management, development of courses and teaching methods at education at undergraduate level.
4. Participation in national and international projects and education.
5. Good collaborative skills and flexibility
6. Experience of using modern digital techniques in teaching.
7. Experience from previous work as an Optometrist.

Full time, permanent employment with placement in Kalmar, Sweden.
