Qualification requirements
The qualification requirements for appointment as a Senior Lecturer are both documented teaching skills and also a degree of Doctor in English Studies, Language Education or equivalent academic competence or other professional qualifications of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties included in the appointment.

Academic skills may further encompass the ability to achieve results through cooperation in joint research projects ? of benefit to academia as well as industry/the public sector/society in general ? and the ability to disseminate research findings.

Experience of and skills in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels are also required. The assessment of teaching skills will include the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Therefore, teaching skills must be documented in such a way that their quality can be assessed.

To be qualified for appointment as a Senior Lecturer the applicant must have demonstrated the academic skills and teaching abilities required for the appointment. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.

The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be well documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.

Assessment criteria
In general terms the assessment criteria shall be based on the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well, as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well, including excellent skills in spoken and written communication in English.

The same attention shall be paid to the assessment of teaching skills as to the assessment of academic skills.

Decisive importance is attached to personal suitability. We value the qualities that an even distribution of age and gender, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, can contribute to the organisation.

Merit
- a strong research record within English Studies or closely related disciplines
- a completed teaching degree (primary, secondary and/or upper-secondary level) including English as a subject
- a research background and interest in English teaching and learning
- experience of teaching English at different levels in tertiary education and demonstrated skills in classroom teaching and thesis supervision
- experience of participating in, developing and possibly leading research and teaching environments, and more specifically skills in theoretical and methodological development, as well as experience of working within an interdisciplinary framework and applying an international perspective
