Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Portuguese, 60-100%

Teaching and research duties as Senior lecturer
Your main focus will be teaching first cycles courses, in linguistics and language proficiency. Supervision of Bachelor’s essays may also be included. An important part of the job is to contribute to the development of the subject through e.g. active participation at department meetings and improvement of course content and didactics.

Collaboration and exchange of experiences takes place within both national and international networks. The research is conducted within the profile Intercultural studies.

Will the successful candidate be you?
In accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and Appointments procedure, a candidate is deemed qualified for employment as a Senior Lecturer by demonstrating teaching skills or by holding a doctoral degree or by having equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills that are of significance in terms of the subject content for the position and work duties.

The position requires that the successful candidate has a doctoral degree in Portuguese with a linguistic focus. Your research is putting Portuguese in a global context, with the emphasis on Brazil or Africa.

You have excellent communication skills in English both orally and in writing. The position requires that you have excellent collaboration skills and are able to take the initiative and be accountable in your work since there will be a great deal of team work and contact with external stakeholders.

Of credit is that you have


• previous experience of online teaching
• the ability to teach in Swedish
• a research profile of relevance to Intercultural studies
• attained the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education qualification

The contract
This is a permanent position, corresponding to 60-100% of full time, with a start date upon agreement. There may be a probationary period. Dalarna University has two campuses, one in Borlänge and one in Falun. The workplace of the successful candidate will be Campus Falun.

Selection criteria
For this position, the University will consider the candidate who is deemed best suited for the position after a qualitative assessment of scientific and teaching skills and knowledge, as well as of other qualifications that are seen to be relevant for the position, has been conducted.

Equal emphasis will be given to teaching expertise as to field-specific knowledge and expertise, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4.
