The Department of Design is home to the university's unique artistic excellence in fashion and textile design. The Design department Swedish School of Textiles offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in fashion design, textile design, textile interaction design and performance wear design. The department also offers art-based research education in design. Based on an experimental design approach the department teaches and explores textiles, fashion and clothing in a very broad sense, including aspects like human body-based expressions and functions, material innovation, textile craft, digital specialism, textile interactions, environmental and cultural developments through design and more. The design research in textile- and clothing are carried through the two main research programs: ArcInTex and Body and Space.

Job description
As a Senior Lecturer in Design, you will have a varied position where you will have the chance to inspire and guide students and contribute to our research and education environment. You will teach and supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s students in design, but you will also participate in the doctoral programme in Textile and Fashion Design. Particular focus will be on artistic education and artistic research in textiles, clothing, and fashion, both theoretical and practical.
The position includes conducting artistic research and development to contribute to our research and education environment, but also by participating in the development of new courses and programmes. You will also participate in the department's collaboration with related textile education areas at the university, as well as related art and design areas nationally and internationally. You will also be expected to promote the diversification and internationalisation of design education.
Qualifications
For the position, applicants are required to have:
• teaching expertise
• degree of Doctor of Fine Arts
• artistic expertise
• documented advanced knowledge and skills in artistic practices, design methods and various material techniques, including digital tools and processes
• documented advanced knowledge and skills in experimental artistic design research
• knowledge and practical experience of physical/tree dimensional design in art and design
• experience in supervision and teaching in art and design
• good written and oral communication skills in English
• good interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and in a structured manner, and the ability to prioritise among tasks
Merits:
• Experience of publishing artistic research results in relevant exhibitions, journals, conferences or equivalent

• Leadership in the field of art and design.
A general eligibility requirement for permanent employment as a teacher is completion of training in teaching and learning in higher education equivalent to 10 weeks of full-time studies, or equivalent competence. An employee who does not have training in teaching and learning in higher education may complete the training during the first two years of employment.
