Purpose of the position
Acts as Legal Business Partner for Kalmar S&M organization in Europe, as the first point of contact in all legal matters for the business, and ensures their issues are solved efficiently and with high quality. Actively drive continuous development and implementation of processes, practices, and tools used within Kalmar Legal. The position can be based in Ljungby Sweden or Helsinki, Finland.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Responsible for legal support in contract negotiations and reviews as well as dispute and litigation management in Europe.
Establish strong relationships and trust with key business stakeholders and proactively support their decision making from a legal perspective and implement legal policies and processes in conjunction with other Kalmar lawyers.
Responsible for conducting legal activities for Kalmar S&M. Decisions made and advice given have direct or indirect, significant business impact. Issues dealt with are of high complexity (such as projects or M&A or cases). Has high individual responsibility for results.
Support in managing certain compliance-related issues
Proactively improves shared ways of working. May be responsible for the development of dedicated process, practice or tool for the use of the legal function.
Proactively explores practices across different business areas and also externally.
Required to influence both internal and external stakeholders in decision-making and negotiating situations.
Responsible for developing and sharing knowledge across business areas on specific legal substance.
Function as European law specialist in Kalmar legal team: provide Europen law support to other Kalmar lawyers as well as Cargotec lawyers when needed.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education
Masters's degree in law.
Experience
Typically over 9 years of relevant work experience in global business environment
Competencies
Understanding and experience from project business, equipment sales, services and software licensing and willingness to learn more
Expertise in contracts and litigation management and general business law matters (competition and corporate law issues, digitalization, business compliance, M&A, IPR etc.)
Solid legal background of contracting and intellectual property law, good knowledge of product liability.
Experience in working as in-house counsel in international context as well as experience in M&A projects
