Would you like to work with development of Risk Infrastructure and methods in the leading corporate and institutional bank in the Nordic countries?
SEB is looking for an experienced and proven risk specialist to support its Risk organization in the transformation enabled by the latest developments in technology, data, and risk modelling.
About the position
You will be part of the Group Risk organization and report directly to the Head of Group Risk. The main objective for Group Risk is to ensure that all risks inherent in the activities of SEB are identified and assessed, as well as measured, monitored, controlled/mitigated and reported in accordance with external rules and internal policies. Group Risk is a group-wide organization with global functional responsibility and independent from the business organization. In this role you will not have direct managerial responsibilities, however we expect you to support the head of Group Risk and the whole Group Risk management team by take a leading senior expert or team/project leader role one or more of the following cross-risk topics:
Risk data governance and infrastructure One of the fundamental buildings blocks for high quality risk reporting and control is timely, structured, and quality-controlled data. The digitalization and more extensive regulation of the financial industry has further elevated the importance of strong data governance and modern technological data infrastructure. Hence, Risk & Finance departments in SEB have recently established common Finance & Risk Data Management Office. We expect you to provide expertise on all data-related topics to both to the Finance & Risk data management office and to the various risk teams on their various projects and/or initiatives related to data.
Risks related to the changes in the finance industry The huge investments made to the fintech industry, together with regulatory initiatives, like open banking, have already lead to the emergence of several new competitors and partners within the traditional banking sector. We expect this trend to accelerate further and hence in the future we will connect with our clients and partners in new ways and we will co-operate with several new partners to support our offerings and processes. These developments will naturally change the risk landscape, especially in the area of technology, third party risks, and cyber risk and cybersecurity. We expect you to provide senior risk leadership in these new developments and to help to incorporate the new emerging risks into the already existing risk frameworks.
Implementation of modern risk measurement methodologies The improved data accessibility and quality, together with technological developments, like cloud computing, enables usage of new approaches to risk measurement in current risk types such as market, credit, and liquidity risk. In addition, several other risk areas, which traditionally have not extensively used quantitative risk measurement are becoming more measurable. For example, areas like sustainability, financial crime, and Cyber risk and Cybersecurity are already experimenting with various modelling tools and approaches. We expect you to provide cross disciplinary expertise to such initiatives, not just in Group Risk but also to other support functions and business divisions.
Your Profile
You are structured and delivery-focused with high integrity and ethical standards. You are proactive and you have a strong track-record of studying and learning new trends and developments. You have at least 15 years of experience in Risk control and/or quantification in the financial industry, or financial technology industry. You have experience and a proven track-record in leading implementations of risk systems and processes. You have deep theoretical and practical understanding of multiple risk practices and methodologies. You are a team player with an analytical and strategic mindset with the ability to transform theory into concrete action.
