Senior Manager Mechanical
The Senior Manager Mechanical will be responsible for technical supervision of mechanical design and safety aspects associated with the construction, maintenance, and improvement of DR plants and new technology initiatives. You will also be responsible for hiring Mechanical & Planning Engineers and Mechanical Technicians, evaluating their performance and manage work and oversee employee training within the Mechanical DRI group. The Senior Manager Mechanical acts as process discipline lead providing technical support for various projects and initiatives and works with other managerial staff to ensure project completion in an efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
Build a strong team of Mechanical Engineers, Planning Engineers, and Mechanical technicians and direct daily work assigned to the team.
Act as chief technical resource on all on all mechanical engineering designs, including advising DRI teams as primary technical resource for Mechanical Engineering and coordinating Mechanical Engineering efforts with other departments and disciplines.
Manage short- & long-term projects for operational Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Projects.
Develop Quality Assurance policies / processes to improve availability, reliability of DRI facility.
Liaise with Senior Management to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met & manage project aspects impacting quality, timing or production output.
Reviewing Mechanical Engineering deliverables during project execution, including layout of equipment, mechanical drawings, and equipment specifications.
Provide input relating to the evaluation, proposal, and/or implementation of engineering improvements to a DR plant.
Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources. Analyze any deviation from budget, determine if corrective action needed.
Participate in plant long-term production planning as required, including maintenance & shutdown planning, analyses of technical documentation, managerial budget & cost control decisions.
Monitoring KPIs to ensure cost-efficiency; formulating cost controls; long term Maintenance planning, developing preventive maintenance plan & major projects for annual capital budget, 5-year capital expenditure; CapEx projects design & execution.
Requirements:
10 years or more in a Managerial role in DRI plant Maintenance
Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience, related to direct reduction plant
Diploma/ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Demonstrated success in bridging communications with senior management, operations, technical departments and managerial discretion.
