A vacancy has arisen within the Trade & Investment Section of the British Embassy (UKTI), Stockholm for a Senior Market Adviser in the Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Automotive Team.
Duties & Responsibilities
This position has a wide and varied workload. Senior Market Advisers aim to increase the competitiveness of British goods in the Swedish market by keeping abreast of developments and reporting opportunities to the UK. They respond to enquiries from British and local companies and, where appropriate help promote investment in UK.
The responsibilities involve:
Providing support and assistance to the Head of UKTI Sweden.
Responsibility for the professional and customer focussed operation of a team which will include a Market Adviser.
Market research and compiling sector related reports on behalf of British companies.
Undertaking special projects.
Visits to companies, trade fairs, trade associations and commercial organisations within Sweden and sometimes in UK.
Advising local and British commercial visitors.
Line management of a Market Adviser.
Ensuring that the team's statistics and forecasts are all completed accurately and at the correct time.
Skills and experience required
Good understanding/background in trade work with 2-3 years current experience of Swedish industry - particularly Healthcare, Biotech, Pharmaceuticals or Automotive.
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently - taking responsibility under supervision.
Evidence of excellent organisational and influencing skills including an ability to work to deadlines - often under pressure.
A positive attitude, flexibility, an ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast moving working environment.
Evidence of good judgement.
Proven management skills.
Excellent communication skills which will include good written and spoken Swedish and English.
Good IT skills.
Aptitude for providing a customer driven service
This is a full time appointment offered initially offered on a one-year contract basis from 1 January 2007. The salary is SEK 30,000 gross per month.
