Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Central Maintenance team.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.
The central maintenance team at Northvolt proivdes essential support functions to maintenance and production required to bring products to our customers.
We are now looking to strengthen our team with a senior mechanical Engineer to take responsibility of leading the maintenance engineering Projects and development of the department. The senior mechanical engineer role is very cross functional and aligns with other departments to meet customer needs.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Development of a central maintenance area and CNC machine shop in line with the project’s scope.
Development of a central maintenance team and processes.
Delivering the project scope through cross functional development and tracking of the cross functional project timelines
Prepare and manage engineering projects to include specification, design, life cycle, cost, equipment selection, planned maintenance programmes, and the preparation of and review of tender documentations of tooling and equipment.
Manage the day-to-day workload to support inter departmental technical requests

Skills & Requirements
Education/Experience
Minimum of 10 + years in Maintenance or Engineering within Battery manufacturing Technology sector.
Knowledge of Cell assembly, Formation & aging processes.
Exceptional knowledge of Electrode cutting and joining techniques.
Expert in CNC & Manual machining, WEDM.
Strong mechanical Engineering experience with a hands-on approach.
Must have developed and mentored junior/entry level engineers.
Must have worked in multi-cultural environment
Project/Program management tool kit including scheduling and project leadership
Specific Skills/Abilities
Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus
Excellent technical problem-solving skills.
Excellent time management skills
Strong skills as communicator, both internally as well as externally to suppliers.
Collaborate, energetic approach to engage cross functional team
Desire to lead a team of engineers and technical staff who will eventually master a new industry in Europe
