Who are we?
Electromobility is the global development center within the Volvo Group for electric drivelines. We develop zero emission propulsion systems making a difference for the Volvo Group’s customers and society as a whole.
What do we do?
At the Energy and Storage System, ESS, section we´re responsible for the complete battery solution. At our section, we are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase. In the Mechanical team we´re looking for a mechanical engineer to work with the ESS hardware.
The Mechanical group’s responsibility includes product ownership of battery housings, connector boxes and plastic carriers. We´re also responsible for driving the development towards the suppliers. We´re developing complete battery pack solutions for complete Volvo Group.
What will you do?
At Electromobility you will have all the advantages from Volvo Group being a large international company, but in combination with all benefits from a tech startup. You will work with the mechanical components in close cooperation with colleagues at ESS, internal customers, cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers.
In this role you will:
Work in one of our battery projects securing component deliveries according to project plan.
Secure a balanced technical solution and deliveries from your cross functional colleagues - operations, purchasing, aftermarket and logistics.
Work in close collaboration with different suppliers both to print and development suppliers.
Write, follow up and balance technical requirements for your components.
Initiate and secure CAD design and simulations (CAD and simulations done by others).
Manage part numbers and release administration in PDM system
Who are you?
We are looking for a communicating person who plans and aligns and can focus on the highest priorities. You are confident in your technical knowledge and a background preferably with knowledge from either metallic material designs and/or plastic designs. You need to have a good understanding of all the activities when developing new components and thrive in the relationship with the suppliers.
A B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering or similar education or equivalent experience
You have more than 3 years engineering experience as a mechanical engineer from automotive industry.
Experience from component planning and cross functional leadership
Deep knowledge of sheet metal, forged, casted design is a strong merit.
Experience from battery hardware development is a strong merit
Fluently in English (written and spoken).
