Braking system HW Team – Let’s introduce ourselves!
The responsibility of the team is to define and deliver the braking systems for future vehicle programs focusing on new electro-hydraulic or electro-mechanical brake actuation/modulation by-wire systems. As leader in innovation and safety, Volvo Cars is committed to continuously work finding technologies that can define new safety standards and braking systems is one of the key areas of development to set them.
What you will do
As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer in the Braking system HW team, you will lead and contribute to the design and implementation of new braking systems.
Your primary responsibilities include designing, testing, and implementing solutions that meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will define & balance requirements with all the internal and external stakeholders from the concept phase until the start of production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and project managers, to conceptualize and deliver high-quality products within specified timelines.
You will:
* Lead efforts to implement new brake modulation systems, balancing performance, manufacturability, cost and requirements.
* Review technical specifications and /or detailed 2D and 3D models to ensure accuracy and compliance with design specifications.
* Analyze performance and durability, optimize designs and translate vehicle requirements into supplier specifications.
* Oversee prototyping and testing to validate designs against defined requirements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to integrate components and resolve design issues.
* Prepare design documentation, including drawings, specifications, test plans and reports.
* Identify opportunities for innovation and contribute to design reviews and knowledge sharing.
* Lead or support project planning, resource allocation, and risk management to meet milestones.
What you will bring
To thrive in this role, you need excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, along with strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
We are looking for someone with:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
* Proven experience in chassis systems (braking, steering and wheel suspension) design and development, preferably within a Tier 1 supplier or automotive OEM.
* Proficiency in model-based design tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink, Simscape, Amesim) to design the product and evaluate test results.
* Familiarity with project management principles and tools.
And it’s a bonus if you have:
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX) for design and analysis.
* Experience within system/ vehicle testing
* Experience within Software / function development within Chassis systems
