Senior Metallurgist

As a specialist in steelmaking with emphasis on continuous casting/EAF you will provide advanced technical support to the global Metallurgy sales team and to customers on the use and advantages of ABB Metallurgy´s Electromagnetic products. You will provide metallurgical expertise to our Product Management and R&D teams where you will rise and sometimes lead initiatives to improve ABB Metallurgies offerings. A substantial part of the working time will be at our customers plants where you will take part in start-up´s and evaluate the performance of our products.
Reporting to the Sales Manager you will be part of the Sales team. An interest to later take the role as Area Sales Manager for certain regions is appreciated. The position is located in Västerås, Sweden.


Your responsibilities
Provide technical sales support to the global sales team
Aid the organization with metallurgical know-how in determining the best solutions and with providing technical support, technical presentations and training
Follow the technical development within the metallurgical field. Identify trends and customer needs
Take initiatives and take lead in projects and actions aiming to improve existing products and develop new products
Define and follow up metallurgical performance guarantees for delivered projects
Make product presentations for customers
Write papers for branch journals and make presentations on conferences
Take ownership of specific cases to ensure customer issues are resolved.



Your background
A metallurgical engineer with university degree and >10 years of experience from the steel industry
Deep practical knowledge in continuous casting and/or EAF steelmaking
Exceptional spoken and written communication skills, a customer-focused mindset and a professional “can-do” attitude
Full proficiency in English
The position requires a flexible person who can travel on relatively short notice in order to react quickly to the dynamic environment.
