RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and Chalmers University of Technology foundation jointly own SEEL – Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory, a new test and research center for electromobility, which will open May 2023 in Gothenburg, Nykvarn and Borås.

SEEL aims to create an arena for research and development of new technologies for electrified vehicles, vessels, aircrafts and more. The center is part of the “IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) on Battery” project notified to the European Commission. The equipment will be brand new and when we welcome our clients at the opening day, they will meet heavy duty complete vehicle climate dyno, Light duty complete vehicle 4WD dyno, heavy duty and light duty powertrain rigs, electric motor rigs and ISO 3745 NVH rig with axle dyno. We will offer facilities for test, research and verification on batteries, cells, modules and packs, electric machines, drivelines and complete vehicle testing including NVH and tempered testing.

About the role
In the role as “Senior operator of advanced battery test equipment”, you will be responsible to perform testing within energy storage (batteries, fuel cells and other storage opportunities the future will bring us). You perform the complete cycle, from planning of test to the delivery of test data to our clients, which includes operational and strategical tasks like:

- Develop, maintain and execute test methods for battery testing on cell, module and/or battery pack level
- Maintain contact with the suppliers of equipment in the laboratory
- Continuously keep the laboratory equipment up to date to meet the future needs and act as an advisor on future investments
- Developing test automatization system in a way to optimize utilization
- Maintain all documentation needed in laboratory environment
- Finalize test

You will be in daily contact with the management team of SEEL to build this company together!

You will be a part of the first operator team at SEEL, that’s why we need you as a senior mentor to transfer knowledge. You will guide and develop the future colleagues as we grow and recruit. The position is a permanent full-time employment at SEEL. You report to the Director Energy Storage and your team will be in Gothenburg and Nykvarn. Your workplace will be at one of the two sites, which one is up to you! Travel may occur.

Who are you?
We are looking for a “Senior operator of advanced battery test equipment” with at least a few years of experience from test rigs/beds and experience from working in the automotive industry. Your practical experience will be highly valued as well as your understanding of typical test objects and measurement techniques. Knowledge about test automation systems (like MORPHEE, PUMA or similar systems) and programming (preferable Python, C++ or CAPL) is also needed to be successful in this role. Your educational background is within a field of electrical & Electronics, mechanical engineering or equivalent (Chemical or computer science for example). We communicate in Swedish or/and English, so you need to be fluent in at least one of the languages. However, good knowledge in English is a merit. Driving license B is mandatory. Experience of some type of mechanical or electrical tasks around electrical vehicles and Experience with CAN would be meritorious.

As a person you are driven, eager to learn and an early adopter. You have an interest in developing yourself and others. We believe that you have a pedagogic approach to teach both rig operators and customers. People around you see you as service minded with good communications skills, a team player with ability to work independently. We need you to be a flexible and agile problem-solver with the ability to work on different tasks at the same time. The careful and systematic approach is important.
