Scania Supply Chain Networks is a function within Production & Logistics and Our ambition is to become the leader within sustainable logistics. Our mission is to globally develop, manage and optimize our logistical flows by building flows with minimal environmental impact, and high quality to the lowest possible cost. The central responsibility for the Packaging Process is as an important part of Supply Chain Networks, and now we are looking for a Senior Packaging Engineers in the team which are responsible for Packaging Network and Selection.
Packaging Network and Selection is responsible for developing the Packaging Logistics Network, both short- and long term. We are now facing an exciting and important development step, with high focus and ambition on sustainability and digitalization, aiming to get full control of Scania’s Packaging Processes and Network. We are also responsible for developing the Packaging Selection Process to secure right packaging for each flow and application. We work on a global arena, which includes cross-functional challenges within and between Scanias different industrial hubs (Europe, Latin America & China). We are a group of seven ambitious and driven individuals with mixed experience, both internal & external.
Packaging Logistics China
Scania has decided to install a 3rd industrial hub in China besides the industrial installations in Europe and Latin America. A project within P&L have been initiated to develop and implement this hub. One part of this project is packaging logistics, which is responsible for all the packaging solutions including concept, strategy, development, procurement and implementation in the new industrial hub in China.
Job description Senior Packaging Engineer
Packaging Logistics project includes several activities, one of them is to define which Packaging to use for each part/component from Suppliers/PRUs. The 3rd industrial hub in China will require development of local Suppliers, as well as, a considerable volume of parts imported from European Suppliers, both with packaging and inbound transport processes to support these developments. The project is in the starting-phase, and you will have a great opportunity to have an impact on the future of logistics for Scania in China. Your role and scope may vary over time according to the needs of the entire Packaging logistics project.
• Design of packaging for inbound parts, creating packaging instructions for Suppliers
• Assortment selection, consider impacts in the supply chain
• Support the sourcing process (purchase)
• SPS principles: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Costs
• Train and transfer knowledge to new members
You will have an area of responsibility as project member to develop activities related to packing definition, supporting all assembly or manufacturing processes.
In the project, you will be a part of an exciting journey to, in the first step set the base for Packaging logistics in China and in parallel, prepare for the future of Packaging logistics with high level of digitalization and automation within this field.
Your profile
Preferably you have a university degree within engineering or logistics or similar, with at least three-five years work experience within that area. You have experience within project management and coordination, analysis and problem solving. You easily work both in teams as well as deliver results on your own. You are fluently in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge in Chinese is regarded a merit. We believe that you are skilled within supply chain logistics and abilities like design new packaging, purchasing or part quality experience is merited.
You are a positive, driven, structured, analytical and communicative person with a talent for connecting with new people. You easily see the big picture and understand the details, are constructive, see new opportunities and take initiatives for improvements. Team working skills is the key to succeed in this role. Previous work experience within production and logistics at Scania is desired.
Your location
The project team for Packaging Logistics is based in Södertälje, and organized under Supply Chain Networks. However, flexible work location may be applied to reflect competences needed and deliveries in the project. Business trips abroad and to China may occur.
