We are now offering the exciting possibility to join our Consumables Business Area as Senior purchaser.
The Consumables Business Area develops, manufactures, and distributes products to more than 110 countries from three sites; Gothenburg, Denver and San Diego. Our raw material suppliers are located globally. We also have contract manufacturing in Asia. The business area consists of three business units, Media, Disposables Devices and Genomics. The turnover in 2022 was 1.339 MSEK and is 41% of the total Vitrolife Group turnover. Consumables have colleagues all over the world from the US to Australia. The product line covers most steps in the IVF process. Examples of key products are Ovoil, EmbryoGlue, G-IVF, Rapid-I, the Sense needle, micromanipulation pipettes, IVF approved labware and EmbryoMap, setting a standard for quality and safety.
The position
As senior purchaser you will be part of the Procurement and Logistics team based in Gothenburg and report to the Supply Chain Director. You will have close interactions within our team as well as with Operations, Product Development, Product management and QA. The position includes:
Commercial responsibility for suppliers:
- Agreements/Price negotiations
- Supplier reviews
- Business intelligence from a sourcing perspective
- Risk management
Sourcing and qualification of new suppliers
Contribute with purchasing competence in development projects
Auditing of suppliers together with QA
Some operational purchasing (forecast, orders, stock management, etc)
This position requires
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or engineering
At least 5 years’ experience from a similar role
Medtech or Pharma experience
Proficient in Swedish and English, both written and verbal
Business acumen

Your proficiency in problem-solving is exceptional, and you possess the ability to quickly come up with creative solutions when faced with a challenge. Assuming responsibility and taking the initiative is not an issue for you, and you can make informed decisions when necessary. You are adept at setting strategic objectives, as well as effectively managing time and resources. You find analyzing data and detecting patterns enjoyable, and you stay up-to-date with market trends and recognize potential business opportunities. Additionally, we believe that you excel in building relationships.

This is permanent, full-time position based in Gothenburg. International travels will be part of the position.
