Sandvik Coromant Research and Development in Västberga, Stockholm works with development of hard materials for metal cutting. Operations cover a broad spectrum, from modeling and materials production to evaluation and implementation. The materials laboratory has processing equipment for production of test materials on both lab and pilot study scales, as well as advanced equipment for testing and analysis. Our strength lies in both our broad and cutting-edge knowledge within our field and an extensive international network of contacts.
We are now looking for a Senior R&D Engineer for the Compaction department, to be based in Västberga, Stockholm. We are offering you a key position at a world leader within the field of metal cutting. The position is demanding, but you will in turn develop as a project leader, possibly towards management; be part of developing new top-of-the-line technical solutions and products; work with senior, elite experts; and get the chance to build an extensive global network in this and related fields.
The Compaction department is responsible for developing technology for compaction of tools for metal cutting, including equipment design and evaluation, advanced modeling and process development.
Key performance areas
As a senior R&D Engineer you will develop competence and solutions within Key Competence Area Compaction. You will also:
- Run projects
- Establish contacts with the brands of the Sandvik Machining Solutions group, as well with different functions within the R&D organization, and universities, external research organizations, etc.
- Contribute to enabling integration of new complex products with existing and new equipment
- Contribute to improving existing technology related to compaction in terms of process stability, dimensional accuracy, defect prevention and productivity
The position may involve some traveling. Regular presence in our PU in Gimo is expected.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Master's degree, or the equivalent, with a relevant technical focus. A PhD in, for example, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or Mathematics is advantageous, as is previous experience with powder processing. Alternatively, you might have a background in research within a relevant technical field, design methods and/or powder processing. You have good English skills, both written and verbal.
