Senior R&D Engineer, X-ray Diffraction (XRD)

The R&D department of Sandvik Coromant in Stockholm works with development of hard materials for metal cutting. Operations cover a broad spectrum - from modeling and materials production to evaluation and implementation. The materials laboratory has processing equipment for production of test materials on both lab and pilot study scales, as well as advanced equipment for testing and analysis. Our strength lies in both our broad and cutting-edge knowledge within our field, and we have an extensive international network of contacts. We are now looking for a Senior R&D Engineer for our Structure Analysis section with expertise within XRD, to be based in Västberga, Stockholm.

Key performance areas
As a Senior R&D Engineer you will be responsible for the XRD equipment, initiate and drive development of new methods and take an active part in product development within Sandvik Coromant. You will work together with other departments within Sandvik and are also expected to build an external network with universities and suppliers of XRD equipment.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with a solid knowledge of crystallography. You probably have a PhD in Materials Science or an MSc. in Engineering, Chemistry or Physics. Previous experience from thin film and powder diffraction (especially structure determinations), texture and residual stress measurements is advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are a prerequisite.

You are a problem solver who gladly takes the initiative and enjoys working with complex problems. You have a proactive and strategic working style and work well independently, as well as with others. Additionally, you are interested in technology, with a profound understanding of the professional aspects of the job, and you are happy to share your knowledge with others.
