At the R&D Center of Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT), we work together with our customers to strengthen our market position and meet increasing demands. Our center set the industry standard when it comes to successful launches of new products and materials, and we are now looking for a Senior R&D Expert to join our team of researchers and technicians in Sandviken.

Job Summary
In this position, you contribute to Sandvik's success by developing new knowledge based on your profound theoretical and practical experience within metallurgy and alloy development in a global context. You take responsibility for growth within your field of expertise and monitor markets and competitors, to always stay one step ahead. Part of your mission is to capture new ideas and apply these in ways that add value to our business. You develop new methods, tools and processes and constantly strive to increase your own knowledge while sharing your expertise with the organization and supporting your co-workers in growing and developing their capabilities.

The position involves occasional travel.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with a PhD and at least ten years' theoretical and practical experience within metallurgy and alloy development, and we consider experience from working with high temperature processes advantageous. You have a proven track record of innovation or development and are internationally recognized as an authority in your field of expertise. In addition, you have proven yourself successful in knowledge sharing, mentoring and coaching others and actively contributing to different networks. You also have good understanding of Sandvik's business, as well as experience of evaluating markets and competitors and their products and processes. As we operate in a truly global setting, your communication skills in English are excellent.
