The client primarily guides and assists operational reporting teams in enhancing the accuracy of regulatory reports submitted to national and international regulatory authorities. They also track regulatory updates, collaborate with second-line functions, and liaise with regulators to address data inquiries and resolve any issues or incidents.
Some examples of responsibilities in this role include:
- Keeping track of changes in regulations and business practices that affect regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assisting with project implementation and providing support for new products or systems to evaluate their impact on regulatory reporting.
- Providing feedback and contributing to ESMA consultations.
- Requests and messages from regulatory bodies.
- Guidance and escalation for managing incidents and issues.
- Managing requests and ensuring follow-up for internal audits and compliance reviews.
- Providing updates and information to exchanges, GMO management, legal and compliance, and risk teams.
- Attending meetings with industry organizations like EACH, ISDA, and FIA.
- Leading meetings with partners to discuss discrepancies in reporting for both sides of the reporting requirements.
- Engaging in meetings, discussions, and training sessions with the operational reporting teams.
- Assisting with the implementation of new products within the regulatory framework.
- Evaluating existing policies, procedures, and controls and proposing suggestions to enhance reporting processes, report accuracy, governance, and risk management oversight.
Requirements
- Extensive expertise and practical experience in a field related to operations, such as regulatory reporting, MIFID II or EMIR regulations, product/market knowledge in one or more asset classes, trading surveillance, compliance, risk management, or legal matters.
- Good analytical abilities are required to evaluate the importance of emerging issues, review control design, analyze regulatory changes, and develop requirements for regulatory reporting.
- Documentation – It is essential to be able to thoroughly record the work done, including results, conclusions, and necessary next steps.
- Communication – Strong verbal and written communication abilities are vital. Much of the work involves effectively interacting with various external and internal stakeholders. This entails understanding the client’s audience and using the right language, level of detail, and clarity in explanation.
- Results-driven – Demonstrated ability to achieve positive outcomes and take full responsibility for the quality of your work and assigned tasks.
- Exceptional team player with excellent collaboration and communication abilities for working effectively in a global team and with other Customer departments and project groups.
- Problem-solving capabilities with a structured and detailed approach.
- Independent – Demonstrates strong prioritization skills, can handle multiple tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision while receiving support when needed to overcome obstacles.
- Skilled in English, proficient in both written and verbal communication. The Customer operates in 8 different countries, making English their primary language for work.
- Possessing strong Excel skills and experience handling extensive data is beneficial, although expertise in data analytics software or programming languages like Python or SQL is not required.
- Understanding regulatory legal documents and assessing their effects on businesses and products is advantageous, as is a solid grasp of financial products, trading, and post-trade processes that influence regulatory reporting.
