Job Summary
Driven by the vision of sustainable aerospace innovation, GKN Aerospace develop large scale additive manufacturing, saving waste material and creating new design concepts for lower weight and integrated functionality. The technology target engine structures in advanced material, in sizes up to 3 meter in diameter.
We are looking for innovative, committed persons to join us at the Global Technology
Center (GTC), and work with development of new inspection technologies.
We develop technologies and run development programs for product demonstrations of new design concepts, often in national and EU frameworks programs together with OEM customers. Our mission is to support business growth by implementing competitive technologies. The GTC competence spans over Additive manufacturing process development, advanced material, turbomachinery design, product development, digitalization, inspection technologies.

The work is performed jointly with your colleagues, through internal technology development
projects and in research projects often done in bilateral or multilateral collaboration with our GKN colleagues, industry and academic partners and customers.
Key Responsibilities
You will work on both the practical and theoretical aspects of inspection. Curiosity for learning and for understanding the aerospace quality requirements and the relation to manufacturing will be highly valued.
Some of the activities will be:
• Be part of development and implementation of new NDT technologies to support technology
• development programs
• Document and present results internally as well as externally with our partners
• Working close to University and research institute both in Sweden and Europe
• Build inspection set-ups to solve the different challenge with sensors and camera solutions
• Work with the integration of sensors and software into inspection systems
• Support developed inspection methods during their industrialization
• Evaluate the results
Your profile
We are looking for someone who is comfortable in taking a large individual responsibility as well as being part of a team. You are a curious mind and have an interest in thinking beyond established processes, while maintaining enough structure to bring creative ideas into industrial life. You easily involve into discussions about your area of expertise – but also about things, you never heard of before. You have the ability to create effective networks and you could take on a technical responsibility role later on. Furthermore, that you are able to create a positive atmosphere to grow and develop knowledge in others whilst acting as a role model.
Essential qualifications:
• You are an engineer with a M.Sc. in e.g. engineering physic or electrical engineering, or a suitable PhD
• You have industrial experience with measurement and inspection systems, sensors, sensor systems and machine vision solutions
• Experience from working close with university in research projects as well as writing research proposals
• You are proficient in English, both in speaking and writing
Desirable qualifications are:
• You have knowledge and practical experience in one or more NDT methods like CT-scanner analysis,
• X-ray and Ultra Sonic measurements, optical sensors comprising cameras and thermography
• Experience in integrating software into inspection systems
• Experience in industrializing inspection systems
• Interest and knowledge in software development
