Arbetsbeskrivning

– Fiction writer to Energy transition hackathon

Luleå University of Technology experiences rapid growth with world-leading expertise within several research domains. We shape the future through innovative education and groundbreaking research results and drawing on our location in the Arctic region, we create global societal benefit. Our scientific and artistic research and education are carried out in close collaboration with international, national and regional companies, public actors and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has an annual turnover of SEK 1.9 billion. Today, we have 1,815 staff and 19,155 students.

In the coming years, multi-billion investments will be made in large projects in Northern Sweden to create a fossil-free society both nationally and globally. Luleå University of Technology is involved in several of these cutting-edge research projects and in the societal transformation that they entail. We offer a broad range of courses and study programmes to match the skills in demand. We hope that you will help us to build the sustainable companies and societies of the future.

The division Energy science at Luleå University of Technology is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented fiction writer to assist with a grant-funded research project on narratives about energy transitions in Northern Sweden. In the project “ACE hackathon – Energy Futures of Northern Sweden”, you will work with the energy system analysis group at Luleå University of Technology and partners of Arctic Center of Energy (ACE) to create research-based scenarios for Energy Futures in Norther Sweden. Based on these scenarios, you will write four Energy Future short-stories.

Northern Sweden and the northern Nordic countries have, with their access to green electricity and raw material deposits, excellent conditions to establish themselves as a center for the sustainable society of the future. The development has already begun with the expansion of Europe's largest giga factory for battery production in Skellefteå and production of fossil-free steel in Gällivare. New establishments in combination with electrification of the transport sector require more electricity, which to a large degree are projected to come from intermittent power production. Society's energy transition means change in how consumers use energy and how they interact on energy markets, as well as different needs in terms of infrastructure and livelihood. The transition can take many different directions.

The technologies and infrastructure are products of the surrounding society, companies and citizens. The society, the companies and the citizens are products of its technologies and infrastructure.
