Senior Research Engineer video coding Ericsson is a leading provider of telecommunications equipment and related services to mobile and fixed network operators globally.More than 1000 networks in 140 countries utilize our network equipment and 40 percent of all mobile calls are made through our systems.We are one of the few companies worldwide that can offer end-to-end solutions for all major mobile communication standards.Research area Multimedia Technologies within Ericsson Research develops new multimedia technologies for current and emerging multimedia services focused on enriched person-to-person communication and advanced multimedia content.Job description The Visual Technology Unit within Ericsson Research is responsible for research related to video coding, image coding, graphics and image processing for multimedia communication and distribution. As a Senior Research Engineer in the video group you will be part of a skilled team that develops algorithms for video compression and processing.You will work at the forefront of video codec design, including inventing and programming new algorithms.The focus is on efficient and error-robust compression, targeting both mobile video and high-resolution TV. Your research is expected to result in new video coding algorithms and improvements of current video codecs.Other areas include handling of video in system and transport layers.Standardization is an important part of the job, in particular future video coding standardization efforts in ITU and MPEG. Our work is conducted in close cooperation with other Ericsson units, customers and other external partners.Qualifications A PhD or Master of Science with relevant research experience is required.Competence Solid research experience (knowledge of video or image compression).Excellent programming skills (C, C++).Good communication skills (fluent in English).Experience in innovation and standardization will be viewed favorably.Your application For this position, Ericsson is working with Adecco Sweden AB.The interview process will start week 34.
