The arena
The successful candidate will join a team of scientists working to understanding the pathlogical drivers of severe asthma with a particular focus on the low Th2 asthma phenotype. We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive scientist who can provide novel and original insights on biological problems. You will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with leading scientists in the field and will have access to AstraZeneca?s world class laboratory facilities. You will be expected to apply for internal postdoc funding to pursue your scientific interests. We will encourage you to continue to publish your work in high impact journals and present your work at conferences. You will gain experience of the drug discovery process and in time be offered the opportunity to run the biological function on a project.

The role
As a Senior Research Scientist you are expected to provide scientific direction and leadership.

Through the application of your cutting edge scientific skills you will work to understand the biological drivers of disease and work on methods to modulate pathology.

Candidate is expected to drive scientific thinking and practical work around projects and novel targets for asthma and inflammatory disease
Develop their own research interests and apply for AZ postdoc funding
Provide scientific input across projects and disease areas
Ability to work independently and drive the scientific direction of projects
Demonstrates a positive attitude to problem solving
Confident communicator with the ability to ask the right questions

Minimum requirements
Lab based scientist with working knowlege of immunology and hands on FACS experience
PhD level scientist
Good publication record

Preferred experience
Demonstrated drive and productivity
Entrepreneurial approach to work, makes things happen
Has strong communication skills and ability to ask the difficult questions
Some postdoctoral training with evidence of success (Publications and invited talks)
Strong interpersonal skills
