We are currently looking for two technically skilled and highly motivated in vitro scientists to join the Bioscience COPD IPF Department within the Early Respiratory and Immunology R&D unit located in Gothenburg, Sweden. The successful candidates will be joining one of 4 teams within the department that is currently supporting both early and late stage respiratory projects. The department is primarily tasked with developing new therapies to treat chronic respiratory diseases.
What you'll do
In the role you will combine hands-on scientific input into our research activities with scientific leadership in multidisciplinary project teams. We are looking for a scientist with strong practical expertise, scientific judgement and great communication skills. As part of the team of scientists you will design, optimise and execute in vitro experiments of different complexity to support the development of novel therapeutic approaches in COPD and IPF. You are expected to communicate findings in project meetings and actively take part in scientific discussions and project decisions.
We will rely on you to:

Deliver experimental science enabling drug project work through independently planning, designing and executing work within a specific scientific field
*
Responsible for ensuring that your scientific knowledge influences project progression in accordance with portfolio priorities
*
Support discovery projects, build scientific understanding of the disease areas and develop/refine state of the art cell models
*
Ensure research is of high quality and meets AstraZeneca standards
*
Communicate results to key stake holders internally and externally
*
Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, abstracts and patents
Essential for the role
* A PhD in a relevant area of Bioscience. A MSc with extensive relevant experience would also be considered.
*
Relevant scientific and experimental experience in cell and molecular biology, assay development, cell culture, immunoassays, protein and RNA analysis
*
Ability to operate effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment, providing leadership and insight in the discipline
In addition, you possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English as well as great problem-solving skills related to in vitro research and data analysis. You have a positive and goal oriented attitude. You are an excellent team player but are also able to take own initiatives and work independently. You are organized and incorporates the views of others in your communication and collaboration.

Experience in the isolation, culturing and analysis of primary cell cultures

Scientific knowledge in chronic respiratory diseases

Practical experience in different cell transfection methods
