Imagine… one day we live in a world, where a diagnosis of a severe genetic disease does not sound terrifying, because almost all genetic diseases have effective medicines to cure them. Here at AstraZeneca, we are turning this dream into a reality!
We are developing state-of-the-art technologies and models to advance gene and cell therapy approaches - and our Genome Editing Team in Gothenburg, Sweden, is now looking for a passionate Experienced Scientist to innovate in the field of genome medicines. If you are looking for a fast-paced environment where your scientific insights can translate into meaningful impacts on patient lives, this might be the position for you.
Meet us:
As a Senior Scientist in the Genome Editing Team, you will join an international group of energetic researchers of various backgrounds who are excited about science and challenge its dogmas. Our work focuses on basic yet translational research that is designed to reach the clinics. Especially, we are passionate about modifying genomes at will for therapeutic purposes. We create a supportive and inclusive environment, and a fun atmosphere for everyone independent of their preferences, experiences and beliefs.
What will you do:
In this role you will get first-hand experience with Therapeutic Genome Editing projects - for example: Design, implement and interpret experiments: such as DNA editing in vitro, in cells and in animals; next-generation sequencing, gene expression analysis, cell culture experiments including genetic disease model generation.
Additional accountabilities:
*
Collaborate with other scientists to invent and implement new Gen Editing technologies.
*
Participate in the design, development, and optimization of molecular and cell-based assays.
*
Provide advice and mentorship to junior scientists with an opportunity to supervise postdoctoral fellows.
Essential for the role:
*
PhD degree (ideally in molecular/cell biology or genetics, but not restricted to).
*
Broad, multidisciplinary laboratory experience and meticulous scientific knowledge.
*
Ability to think critically and to solve tasks independently.
Our successful candidate should also have the ability to communicate, interact and collaborate with other team members, as well as across our AZ global functions and fields. Alongside this, our ideal candidate enjoys working in an innovative, proactive, forward-thinking, project-focused and goal-oriented way and shares our excitement about the latest gene-editing techniques.
Why AstraZeneca?
Join the team unlocking the power of what science can do. We are working towards treating, preventing, modifying and even curing some of the world's most complex diseases. Here we have the potential to grow our pipeline and positively impact the lives of billions of patients around the world.
So, what's next? If this sounds like the place and job for you - welcome to apply today!
We look forward to get to know you better. Send in your application as soon as possible, but no later than 13th February, 2022.
