Are you a Senior Scientist with hands-on laboratory experience in technology development for epigenetic editing looking for a new challenge? If yes, we might have the opening you are looking for at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg!
AstraZeneca's Genome Editing Team develops state-of-the-art technologies to advance gene and cell therapy approaches. We are now looking for a passionate Senior Scientist to innovate in the field of Therapeutic Epigenome Editing. This role is placed at our inspiring R&D site at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden.
As a Senior Scientist in the Genome Editing Team, you will join an international group of energetic researchers of various backgrounds who are excited about science and enjoy challenging its dogmas. We create a supportive and inclusive environment, and a fun atmosphere for everyone independent of their preferences, experiences and beliefs. Our work focuses on basic, yet translational research that is designed to reach the clinics.
What you will do:
In this role, you will investigate molecular tools to modulate gene expression using epigenome editing. The particular focus will be on protein design, engineering and evaluation campaigns inspired by AI and experimental approaches. As an integral part of this role, you will also design, develop and optimize molecular and cell-based assays probing for gene expression changes (including engineering cell lines and advanced cell models). As well as provide advice and mentorship to junior scientists with an opportunity to supervise postdoctoral fellows.
Essential for this role:
* Multidisciplinary, hands-on laboratory experience in technology development for epigenetic editing.
* Detailed knowledge of chromatin biology and therapeutic genome editing - literature, technologies, competitive landscape.
* Extensive experience in cell culture work and cell biology including hiPSCs or primary cell (genome engineering, immunofluorescence, FACS).
* Expertise in molecular biology (DNA extraction, PCR, Amplicon-sequencing, Western blot, gene expression changes with qPCR and RNA-seq) and structural biology (structural-based rational engineering, protein design).
Our successful candidate needs the ability to communicate, interact and collaborate with other team members, as well as across our AZ global functions and fields. Alongside this, we believe that our new colleague enjoys working in an innovative, proactive, forward-thinking, project-focused and goal-oriented way and shares our excitement about the latest gene-editing techniques.
Desirable for this role:
* Protein evolution using bacterial or phage systems.
* Prior experience working in the industry.
Why AstraZeneca?
