The arena

Laboratory Animal Sciences (LAS) delivers in-vivo studies, animal care, and welfare that is compliant to internal standards and external regulations. Principles of the 3Rs are applied to all aspects of animal care and study conduction.
The role is placed in the DSM Animal Sciences Team, LAS. The team works closely with the Drug Safety and Metabolism (DSM) function to support discovery phase projects with investigative toxicological in vivo studies in small and large animals.

The role

Provide scientific and technical inhaled drug delivery expertise.
Maintain and develop models of aerosol drug delivery, including hands on work with the technical set-up to enhance inhalation toxicology capabilities.
Design and execute inhalation toxicological studies, integration and interpretation of scientific data in close collaboration with preclinical representatives.
Study Director for in vivo studies in support of pre-clinical discovery/early development projects
Is required to work flexibly across different areas, and participate in provision of weekend and out of hours support.

Minimum experience

Experience in the operation and development of inhalation exposure systems including the characterisation of test aerosols for reproducibility and particle size.
In vivo experience and experimental skills in the use of animal models.
Problem-solving skills related to in-vivo research and data analysis
Good knowledge in technical engineering and software/computer tools.
Able to communicate effectively across language, cultural, or other barriers
Preferred experience/requirements
Academic degree in Medical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Toxicology or similar education
Experience as Study Director for inhalation studies.
