Arbetsbeskrivning
Are you motivated by challenging the boundaries of science? Would you like to contribute with your excellent knowledge in the NGS/Transcriptomics area in a role that is connected to our wider mission to show what science can do? If yes, this might be your next position!
We are seeking a hard-working Senior Scientist to join our Disease Molecular Profiling team at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden. This role is for a scientific specialist in the NGS/Transcriptomics area with experience in Single Cell Transcriptomics or Spatial Transcriptomics. You will play a key part in the design of experiments and delivery of high quality molecular profiling data where we apply groundbreaking NGS/transcriptomic technologies, cell therapy expertise, precise genome editing in vitro and in vivo functional genomics model systems to the discovery and development of novel therapies.
The Disease Molecular Profiling - NGS/Transcriptomics team is a creative group working on the development and application of nucleic acid "omics" technologies and processes to generate smart data that will enrich our understanding of drug pharmacology, target mechanisms, model systems, patients and disease. Welcome to join our exciting journey!
What you will do?
This is a hands-on lab-based role at the forefront of NGS/Transcriptomics technology with a focus on effective delivery, troubleshooting and putting ideas into action. You will be conducting laboratory work to deliver data on preclinical and clinical projects across a range of diseases, species and drug modalities. As a key member of our team you will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of high quality experimental work and documenting, interpreting, and communicating results to appropriate business partners.
You will also;
* Conceptualize, develop and implement evaluations of NGS/Transcriptomics platforms, vendors, and emerging technologies of preclinical/clinical utility and apply to address relevant needs.
* Contribute to maintenance and development of our internal NGS/Transcriptomics capabilities and development & implementation of new assays or technologies.
* Provide technical advice and transcriptomic consultation to internal and external partners
Essential in the role:
* Ph.D. degree or MSc with corresponding experience in a relevant scientific field.
* Experience applying advanced molecular biology techniques (academic or industrial setting).
* Hand on lab-based experience in RNA-sequencing techniques including Single Cell Transcriptomics or Spatial Transcriptomics.
* Tissue sectioning: experience with tissue processing, embedding and sectioning using cryostat and microtome.
* Strong laboratory and analytical skills with ability to understand and work to detailed SOPs.
Our successful candidate should also have the ability to communicate, interact and collaborate with the closer team members, as well as across our AZ global functions and fields. Alongside this, our ideal candidate enjoys working in an innovative, proactive, forward-thinking and goal-oriented way and shares our excitement of working for discovery and development of innovative medicines.
Desirable in the role:
* Previous work with laboratory automation/liquid handling systems, method development/optimization.
* Tissue dissection, single cell dissociation, microscopy, flow cytometry/FACS.
* Hands-on laboratory experience running NGS platforms (Illumina, Oxford Nanopore etc).
* Sample Tracking by LIMS systems.
Why AstraZeneca?
Be part of a dedicated Research & Development team. Fuelled by our commitment to help more patients, strengthen our pipeline and grow our area. This is the place to go beyond discovery - we think holistically about patients and are always learning from those living with diseases.
