Senior Researcher

Artificial intelligence is transforming society. AI Sweden is the national center for applied artificial intelligence, jointly funded by the Swedish government and our partners, both public and private. We are now looking for a number of Senior Researchers to join us in taking the next steps building a new and collaborative research environment providing research and innovation beyond state of the art.

About the position
In this role you will contribute to cutting edge AI methods, systems, and applications, connecting theoretical results with implementation and real-world problems and scenarios.

In your daily work, you will work closely with fellow researchers, technical experts, and developers from AI Sweden, industry partners, public sector, AI startups, and university research groups in Sweden and internationally.

Currently, we are looking for senior researchers for two of our strategic initiatives, Natural Language Understanding (NLU) and Decentralized AI, each with long-term investments and a number of underlying projects and use cases.

Natural Language Understanding
Our NLU research focuses specifically on developing very large scale language models for the Swedish language. Such models require intensive amounts of data and compute, and our goal is to promote and facilitate collaborative efforts in Sweden and in the Nordic region to accelerate their use and applicability.

Decentralized AI
This is an overarching strategic initiative at AI Sweden addressing any and all challenges related to unconventional and emerging technologies to facilitate the training of AI algorithms in a distributed way. We are focusing on AI applications restricted by privacy or computational limitations in sectors such as healthcare, automotive and space.

AI Sweden's team of about 50 people primarily work from Gothenburg, Stockholm, Örebro, Linköping, Lund, Luleå, Sundsvall, and Skellefteå. Independent of where you are located, in this role you will spend time in Stockholm and Gothenburg regularly.

- equipped with a PhD in a relevant academic field with a proven ability to develop and lead research efforts. Practical application experience is definitely meriting.
- highly knowledgeable in AI, ML methods and experienced from applying them in practice.
- an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing. (English)
- good at explaining advanced solutions and project results also to a non-technical audience.
