RISE, as the Swedish research institute, in collaboration with the Eindhoven University of Technology, is working on d.

centre | EU, a design-infused ecology that jointly digs deep into, learns about and fosters sustainable societal transformation. It endorses and expands on the ambitions of the New European Bauhaus community, to imagine and build together new sustainable, inclusive and beautiful ways of living. Within this program, RISE develops regional, national and international collaborations, runs institutional work, carries out projects and produces knowledge that feed into the d.centre ecology. The candidate that we are looking for will play a critical role in this phase of the work.

About the position
As a senior researcher you will:

- Contribute to the development of d.centre | EU, with the institutional work necessary to its establishment, and with its organizational development and with strategy planning;
- Curate knowledge development within d.centre and organize educational and dissemination formats;
- Contribute with design-infused knowledge production, to the development of the area of Design for Systemic Societal Transformation within RISE;
- Set-up, design and manage national and international applied research projects and programs, with complex transdisciplinary constellations of partners;
- Be a contributing part of a transdisciplinary team, constituted of researchers, developers and project managers, gravitating around the area of Design for Systemic societal transformation;
- Write academic publications (papers, journals, books) and present the results in both academic and non-academic contexts.

Who are you?
For this position you will need the following:

- A PhD in a design related field or in humanities/social sciences with an affinity with design (diploma in Swedish or English to be submitted)
- Advanced Administrative / management experience in research environments
- Advanced Research activity in the broad field of design for societal transformation
- Documented interest and/or previous experience in designing for value-driven societal transformation and eagerness in creating a positive impact in society (visible in the statement of research interest)
- Documented experience in coaching junior researchers
- Excellent reading and writing skills in both Swedish and English.

The candidate that we are looking for has a clear drive and vision on how design can contribute to society and how you intend to work with design. You have excellent abilities in working in and leading transdisciplinary teams, being respectful of people’s point of view, while being able to develop your own position, sensitivity, stance and work. With an intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial attitude, you are capable or eager to learn to develop a theoretical background, applying it to practice and accordingly formulate educational formats. You are able to anchor the organizational acceptance for processes that lead to setup and carry out complex multi-stakeholders projects and programs. You are enthusiastic and self-driven, electrified by new challenges, while at the same time able to finish and package results.

Furthermore, you have strong analytical skills, are a leader, doer, team-player and eager to engage in critical thinking and acting, in collaboration with your team. You are skilled in handling constructive critique in a way that fuels your creativity and reflective ability. You bring thoughts forward, with a designerly sensitivity, by exploring through making and discussing ideas through prototypes and prototyping.
